Nakatakdang magsagawa ng strike ang halos 25,000 manggagawa mula sa University of California Service and Patient Care Tehnical kasunod ng mga hinaharap nitong alegasyon ukol sa di-umano’y pag-outsource ng mga ito at kung ano-ano pang reklamo.
Pinaplano ng mga miyembro ng American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3299 na mag-rally sa harap ng 10 campus at limang medical centers.
Ito ay matapos nilang akusahan ang UC system sa palpak umano nitong pag-implement ng minimum wage policy para sa mga outside contractors a ang pag-uutos din nito na tanggapin ng mga contractual workers ang arbitrary wage cuts.
Pinabulaanan naman ito ng University administrators. “Over the past two and a half years of negotiations, ASFCME leaders have not budged on their unreasonable wage demands,” saad ni UC spokesman Andrew Gordon.
“They have refused to hold a vote on any one of UC’s many fair proposals. And this strike notice does nothing to give employees the long-overdue agreement and raises they deserve.”
Dahil sa nakabadyang strike, pansamantala munang hindi itutuloy ng DNC ang kanilang Democratice debate sa Dec. 19 na gaganapin sana sa University of California-Los Angeles.
