The Department of Agriculture admitted that it will be difficult for the country to achieve the promise of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of P20 per kilo of rice.

During the hearing of the DA’s budget in the House, Agriculture Undersecretary for rice industry development Leocadio Sebastian said that there are several factors needed to lower the price of rice.

Some of its specifications are the reduction of post-harvest costs and the improvement of the value chain.
It added that the price may decrease but it is still far from reaching the said P20 per kilo of rice.
