Inaprubahan ng Local School Board ng Quezon City government ang P2.9-bilyong supplemental budget para sa implementasyon ng mga plano para sa new normal ng mga eskwelahan sa darating na pasukan.
Ayon kay Mayor Joy Belmonte, na siya ring chairperson ng nasabing board, tinatayang nasa 430,000 enrolles ng mga public school sa QC ang makikinabang sa nasabing budget.
Magbibigay daan daw kasi ito sa pagbili ng mga gadget, printed modules at internet allowance.
“We are adjusting our budget to ensure that our children will continue learning despite the sudden shift from traditional to alternative learning modalities,” ani Belmonte sa isang press statement.
Dahil ipinagbabawal muna ang face-to-face classes, maglalaan daw ang QC government ng tablets para sa higit 150,000 enrolled na junior high school. Pati na sa halos 20,000 senior high school students.
“Modules, learning packets containing flash drives, and other additional printed materials will also be distributed, particularly to kinder to grade school students,” ayon sa statement.
Ang mga Kinder to Grade 12 public school teachers ay makakatanggap naman ng porsyento ng budget bilang internet allowance.
“The city plans to assign gadgets to all public schools and other educational facilities that teachers can share through a shifting schedule,” ani Aly Medalla, head ng City Education Affairs.
“We also intend to improve or increase internet connectivity in schools so more teachers have access to the Internet,” dagdag pa ng opisyal.
Kasabay nito, target din daw ng city government na ayusin ang pasilidad ng mga eskwelahan habang hindi pa pinapayagan bumalik sa loob ng silid aralan ang mga estudyante para magklase.
Ayon sa Department of Education, August 24 ang target na petsa para sa pagsisimula ng School Year 2020-2021.
