Nakikiisa si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa selebrasyon ng ika-122 anibersaryo ng proklamasyon ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas ngayong araw, June 12, 2020.
Sinabi ni Pangulong Duterte, kinikilala at pinasasalamatan natin ngayon ang kagitingan, kabayanihan at sakripisyo ng ating mga ninuno para makamit ang demokrasya at kalayaan ng bayan.
Ayon kay Pangulong Duterte, habang nakikipaglaban tayo ngayon sa COVID-19, oportunidad natin ito para ipamalas ang kaparehong kagitingang taglay ng mga bayaning Pilipino sa nakaraan.
Inihayag ni Pangulong Duterte sama-sama tayong umusad na may tapang, pag-asa at tiwala habang pinupuksa ang pandemic.

One hundred and twenty-two years ago, our forefathers proudly proclaimed the birth of the Filipino nation. Today we honor them for their bravery, heroism and sacrifice as well as we thank them for the gifts of democracy and freedom. As we wage a united battle against COVID-19, we now have the opportunity to demonstrate that we possess the same gallantry of spirit and nobility of character as the heroes of our past. Let us now move forward with courage, hope and optimism as we overcome this pandemic. Mabuhay tayong lahat! Mabuhay ang Republika ng Pilipinas!” ani Pangulong Duterte.
