Ipinahayag ng Pre-Trial Chamber I ng International Criminal Court (ICC) nitong Lunes na “fit to take part in the pre-trial proceedings” si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Batay ito sa medical examination ng tatlong independent experts, na nagbigay ng ulat na kaya ni Duterte na epektibong gamitin ang kanyang procedural rights sa korte.
Dahil dito, ipagpapatuloy ng ICC ang pre-trial proceedings laban sa dating pangulo.
‘The Chamber was satisfied that Mr Duterte is able effectively to exercise his procedural rights and is therefore fit to take part in the pre-trial proceedings, which are thereby resumed,’ ayon sa pahayag.
Kaugnay nito itinakda rin ang pagsisimula ng confirmation of charges hearing sa ICC sa Pebrero 23, 2026.
