Kinumpirma ng Pagasa na nag-landfall na ang sentro ng bagyong Butchoy sa bayan ng Polillo sa Quezon province dakong alas-5:30 ng hapon at sumunod din itong nag-landfall sa Infanta, Quezon ng alas-6:00 gabi.
Kaninang alas-7:00 ng gabi natukoy ng Pagasa ang sentro ng tropical depression batay sa Subic doppler radar na nasa bisinidad na ng General Nakar sa Quezon.
Kumikilos ito ng west northwest sa bilis na 15 kilometro kada oras.
Taglay pa rin ng bagyo ang lakas ng hangin na umaabot sa 45 km/h malapit sa gitna at pagbugso ng hangin na umaabot sa 75 km bawat oras.
Samantala nakataas naman ang tropical cyclone wind signal No. 1 sa mga sumusunod: Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, the southern portion of Aurora (Dingalan, San Luis), Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, the northern and central portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta, Real, Panukulan, Burdeos, Polillo, Patnanungan, Jomalig), Mauban, Sampaloc, Lucban, San Antonio, Tiaong, Dolores, Candelaria, Sariaya, Tayabas City, Lucena City, Pagbilao, Atimonan, Padre Burgos, Agdangan, Unisan, Plaridel, Gumaca, Pitogo, Macalelon, Lopez, Guinayangan, Tagkawayan, Calauag, Quezon, Alabat, Perez), at Camarines Norte.
