Nahaharap sa reklamong graft sina Bureau of Customs chief Ariel Nepomuceno at Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) Director Gerald Glenn Panganiban at iba pang opisyal ng dalawang ahensiya.
Ito ay kasunod ng inihaing reklamo sa Office of the Ombudsman ng grupo ng mga magsasaka may kinalaman sa 60-day suspension ng importasyon ng regular milled at well-milled rice.
Base sa reklamong nilagdaan nina Federation of Free Farmers (FFF) National Manager Raul Montemayor at MAGSASAKA Chairperson Argel Joseph Cabatbat, nilabag umano ng nasabing mga opisyal ang probisyon sa ilalim ng Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, nakagawa ng grave misconduct, gross neglect of duty, at conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service against the respondents.
Ayon sa reklamo, pinayagan pa ring makapasok sa bansa ang rice shipments na nasa mahigit 340,000 tonelada kahit na umiiral ang 60-day suspension, kung saan 90 porsyento sa mga ito ay regular at well-milled rice grades na saklaw ng ban. Naging daan aniya dito ang inisyung BPI Memorandum at clearance of shipments ng BOC.
Kaugnay nito, hiniling ng complainants ang agarang pagiisyu ng preventive suspension order laban sa mga public officer respondent para mapigilang magamit nag kanilang posisyon para maimpluwesiyahan ang imbestigasyon o ma-tamper ang mga record.
