Nagbigay ng karagdagang P500 million na pondo ang Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) para sa kinahaharap ng bansa na corona virus disease-2019 (COVID-19).

Ang pondo ay bilang suporta sa pagsisikap ng Department of Health (DoH) para labanan ang COVID-19 na itinturing nang pandemic.

Una nang nagbigay ang PAGCOR ng P2 billion COVID-19 fund sa Socio-Civic Projects Fund ng Office of the President noong March 11, 2020.

Sinabi ni PAGCOR Chairman at CEO Andrea D. Domingo, na gaya ng P2 billion donation, ang karagdagang pondo ay gagamitin sa pagbili ng personal protective equipment ng mga healthcare frontliners, karagdagang operating expenses para sa Bureau of Quarantine at Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

“The number of COVID-19 infected Filipinos is on the rise. But while these numbers are still small compared to other countries, the government is already doing its best to stop the spread of the virus. PAGCOR, being one of the government’s strong partners in nation-building will help ensure that through our funding support, the healthcare sector as well as other frontline government agencies will have access to basic medical necessities that are needed to combat the disease,” ani Domingo.

Dagdag ni Domingo, ang state-gaming regulator ay magpapatupad din ng drastic measures para malabanan ang COVID-19 sa bansa sa pamamagitan ng pagsuspindi sa lahat ng gaming operations sa National Capital Region (NCR), effective immediately.
