Naniniwala ang economic team ng Pangulong Noynoy Aquino na malaking tulong sa kampanya laban sa katiwalian kapag naipasa ang Freedom of Information (FOI) Bill.

Sinabi ngayon ni Budget and Management Sec. Butch  Abad, ang mas malawak na access ng publiko sa mga mahahalagang impormasyon ay bahagi ng 2012-2016 Good Governance and Anti-Corruption Plan ng Aquino administration.

Ayon kay Abad, mas mapapanagot o mababantayan ng taongbayan ang kanilang mga lider kung bukas sa kanila ang mga impormasyong may kinalaman sa pamamahala.

Ang bersyon ng Palasyo sa FOI Bill ay naisumite na sa Kamara at inaasahang tatalakayin ito sa second regular session ng 15^th Congress sa Hulyo.

 “President Aquino believes that we can curb corruption more successfully and strengthen public institutions if citizens are given greater access to official information. Moreover, freedom of information—limited only by a few legitimate areas of confidentiality—will empower the people to hold their leaders accountable and get actively involved in governance,” ani Abad.
