Vicente EmanoPinagpapaliwanag ngayon ng Malacañang si Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente Emano kaugnay sa nangyaring trahedya nang manalasa ang bagyong Sendong sa kanilang lugar.

Nag-ugat ito sa reklamo ng mga private citizens dahil sa alegasyong pagpapabaya ni Emano sa kanyang tungkulin sa kasagsagan ng kalamidad.

Sinabi ni Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte, pinadalhan na ng Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) ng notice si Emano para linawin ang panig.

Ayon kay Valte, hindi naman masasayang ang resulta ng paunang imbestigasyon ng DILG dahil gagamitin ito ng OES sa pagdetermina ng liability ni Emano.

Kabilang sa administrative complaints na kinakaharap ni Emano ang gross negligence at dereliction of duty na maaring umabot sa parusang dismissal o suspension.

“The Executive Secretary has issued a Notice to Explain to Cagayan de Oro Mayor Vicente Emano, in response to a complaint filed by private citizens. The Office of the
President has jurisdiction over city mayors and governors with regard to administrative complaints,” ani Valte.

“The inter-agency Task Force created by the President continues to work toward identifying remedial measures and responses to the issues raised in the wake of the
devastation brought about by Typhoon Sendong, as well as identifying the accountabilities of officials. It is expected to finish its work within the three-month
deadline imposed by President Aquino, which falls in March.”
