Hindi humuhupa ang patutsadahan sa pagitan ng depensa at prosekusyon kaugnay ng impeachment case ni Chief Justice Renato Corona kahit ngayong weekend.

Pinakahuli rito ay ang akusasyon ni defense counsel Atty. Mon Esguerra laban sa prosekusyon na aniya’y niluluto ang isipan ng taong bayan para siraan si Corona habang ginagawa ang paglilitis sa impeachment court.

"The responsible members of media, a lot of them, have already seen the prosecution's strategy. They appear to prosecute CJ in the Impeachment Court and outside the trial, persecute CJ before the public. Tell me if that is fair and just," ayon kay Esguerra.

Ito aniya ang dahilan kung bakit nagisa ni Senate President Pro-tempore Jinggoy Estrada si lead prosecutor Rep. Niel Tupas kung saan halos hindi maidepensa ng kongresista ang sablay nitong expose sa media kaugnay ng dami ng bilang ng mga ari-arian ni Corona na umano'y isang uri ng trial by publicity.

“We are all witnesses to a pattern, now very clear, that CJ's detractors would not stop attacking him and his family. Their honor besmirched by these assassins of character, we remain steadfast with our duty to disprove the malicious accusations and pray that vindication as bright as the noontime sun, will come to pass. Even as we approach the state of boredom and impatience, we appeal for sobriety and fairness to our people. All of us must ensure a fair and credible trial,” explained Esguerra

Bagamat sa panig ng prosekusyon iginiit ni Tupas na mabigat ang kanilang ebidensya laban kay Corona kung saan tiwala silang sa isyu pa lamang ng statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) ng punong mahistrado ay mako-convict na ito sa impeachment court.
