Beginnings: Nick, as what his colleagues fondly call him, was just a fresh grad from UP Tacloban when destiny worked its magic and made him finally consider working in Star FM (Di kasi siya makahanap ng ibang trabaho...hehehe). He took his chance and got himself hired on September 2006. It was Mr. Virn Villagracia, Acting Manager of Star FM Tacloban, who found promising potentials from this lad and painstakingly subjected him through a series of trainings. It was a hard start but Nick was eager enough to take on the challenge. He was so flexibe when it came to handling all the programs assigned to him. (Astig talaga ang batang to!) A neophyte in the radio industry, Nick had his share of mishaps-something he'll never forget in his lifetime. On his first day of ?boardwork?, he unintentionally erased all the entries in the program (Kaya nagkaAIR GAP for at least 3 minutes...Toinks!). When he was still assigned at Star FM Cebu, he unwittingly turned off the powerplant on the DJ's Booth which resulted to a 5-minute air gap as they had to restart the computer all over again. He got so engrossed on decorating the booth with Xmas lights that he failed to notice the powerplant. (Excited kasi masyado...hehehe) Nick just keeps on learning his craft and each day becomes a surprise for his avid listeners. This lad has a passion for innovation and creativity-a rare trait that's hard to find nowadays. Don't you know that he even had this innate talent of playing with his vocal cords? This makes it possible for him to create radio characters whom he fondly call as "Lolo Nicanor" and "Inday Nica" (the gay version). Radio history: What started out as a desperate job search, ended up with a chance to fame. He was hesitant at first but had no other choice and so he tried his luck. Fortunately, he got hired at 95.1 Star FM Tacloban. He became one of Star FM Tacloban's greatest assets for his down-to-earth attitude and that sweet and smiling voice that never failed to catch the Waraynons' hearts. For a small period of time, he has established himself in Region 8's airwaves creating a style of his own. It was November 2006 that became his career's turning point. Nick had the chance to train at 95.5 Star FM Cebu due to an unfortunate event (Hehe...it turned out to be a blessing in disguise after all.). They borrowed him for more than four months. Dun siya nagkaroon ng maraming chicks...charing! He went back to Tacloban on March 2007. (Actually, pinauwi siya dahil nalaman nila na maraming siyang babae sa Cebu...joke lang!) Now back with Star FM Tacloban, "Nick Kolot" does most of his time in preparing playlists for the sweep programs. He himself tabulates the hit songs for the week. During weekends he spends time printing and posting the intstuction for the succeeding week . Despite all these, he never turned down entertaining with his friends and visitors. Claim to fame: Nick's secret? Well, it was his irresistible sweet voice, his infamous expression: ?Halleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer!?, the cute giggle and the friendly and accomodating attitude that won him lots of avid listeners (especially the ladies...hehe). Not to mention that heart-warming kiss he never fails to let loose everytime he makes his extro (nakakatacute talaga kung magkiss tong batang to...toinks!). His programs today include: Morning Starsweep at 6:00 - 9:00 in the morning, Afternoon Starsweep at 3:00 - 5:00 in the afternoon from Mondays to Saturdays and Starrific Sunday Mix at 3:00 - 5:00 in the afternoon every Sundays. To spice up his programs, Nick incorporates trivias, daily word definitions (he calls it ?The Word Of The Day?--Your daily source of vocabulary vitamins.), and hypothetical questions for the listeners to take part with. Catch him daily and get ready to be mesmerized by the ?Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala?.(^_^) |
